Rock and roll could be seen as a genre of music which emerged as a musical style adopted by Americans in the Southern part of American in the year 1950. This genre of Music has a quick spread to the rest of the country and also extended to the whole world. As time pass by, ittransforms into the various different sub-genres of what is now simply called “rock”.

Led Zeppelin is an English rock band which was formed in London in the year 1968. The group consists of the following personalities with the role each individual performs. They include Robert Plant (Vocalist), Jimmy Page (Guitar), John Paul Jones (Bass, Keyboard) and John Bonham (Drums). Been an English rock band formed in Liverpool in the year 1960 they were widely known as the most foremost and influential music band in the rock era. Beatle members include George Harrison, Lennon, Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney. The Beatles later diversified into other sub-categories of rock music ranging from pop ballads; psyche Delia, classical and Indian music. John Lennon and McCartney emerged the leader after few years..

Beatle became sophisticated in 1965 and produced what could be considered as their finest material, including their innovative and widely influential albums such as Rubber Soul (1965), Revolver (1966), The Beatles (1968) and Abbey road(1969).

Pink Floyd was a London based band. Huge achievements was made and gained international recognition with their progressive and psychedelic music. The “Pink” as were seldom regarded were solely distinguished by their use of sonic experimentation, extended compositions, philosophical lyrics and elaborate live shows; this made them succed commercially and also influences music. The band was known for their talented individuals such as their guitarist and lyricist.

Yet another rock band which originated from the Great Britain in the year 1970, they are widely known as the Queen. The Queen was formed in the year 1970. Brian May (guitar, vocals), Freddie Mercury (lead vocals, piano), Brian May Roger Taylor (drums, vocals), and John Deacon (bass guitar) all made their impact in the group. At inception Queen’s work were influenced by Progressive rock, hard rock but the band progressively ventured into more conventional and radio-friendly works by incorporating further styles. Their debut album was recorded in 1973.

Statistics shows a total of 18 number one albums, 18 number one singles, and 10 number one DVDs and 150 million to 300 million were recorded, making them one of the world’s bestselling music artists.

The band came together in 1981 to form an American heavy metal band. Its members includes James Hetfield, (Vocalist/guitarist), Lars Ulrich Drummer), Kirk Hammett (Guitarist), Robert Trujillo (Bassiest). Some other members joined the group later on. Metallica collaborated over a long period with producer Bob Rock who was in charge of their album production from the year 1990 to 2003.

With a sum total of nine studio albums, five extended plays, four live albums, 37 singlesand 26 music videos, Metallica bagged 8 Grammy Awards.

AC/DC were known for their rock style of music in which its members emanated from Australia. The group was formed by two brothers Malcolm and Angus Young in 1973, who continued as members until Malcolm’s illness.

“For those about to Rock we salute you” was a top notch and was their first album to reach number one in the United States.

So far AC/DC sold more than 200 million records worldwide, of which 71.5 million albums were sold in the States, making them the tenth bestselling band in the States and one of the world’s bestselling bands of all time.

The band got huge recognition and was published in the dailies and also became popular in the US in 1964–65. The band had a lot of performances and produced  a good number of albums but Exile on Main St. (1972) was their best recorded album. It was during this period the band was first introduced on stage as the world greatest rock and roll band of all time and made the hall of fame in 1989.

Guns N’ Roses was an American hard rock band which originated from Los Angeles in 1985. The band consists of Steven Adler, Axl Rose, Geffen Rescords and a host of others. Records holds that  the band released six studio albums and an accumulating sales of more than 100 million records worldwide, including shipments of 45 million in the United States.

The band made the hall of fame in 2012.

9.  NIRVANA

The group got disbanded after the death their ring leader Kurt Cobain’s in 1994.The band comprises of Kurt Cobain (Vocals, Guitar), Dave Grohl (Drums) and KristNovoselic (Bass). Nirvana got international reputation and is most well-known for their album “Nevermind” and their song “Smells Like Teen Spirit”. The Who is an English rock band which was formed in 1964. Their line-up consist of lead singer Rodger Daltrey, bassist John, drummer Keith Moon and guitarist Pete Townshend. The band was considered to be among the most influential in the 20th century, with sales of over 100 million records worldwide

The WHO’s major contributions to rock music was the development of the Marshall stack, use of large PA systems coupled with the use of the synthesizer. The band also transforms from rock music into rock opera.
